Chesapeake Scholars Program
The Chesapeake Scholars Program was established by Alex. Brown Realty (ABR) to provide the opportunity for undergraduate women and students of color to learn about the real estate industry and related careers. The program offers students opportunities to participate in ABR’s commercial real estate events through several activities, including:
- Participation in weekly acquisition team meetings. Acquisitions Team meetings are held every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and the Scholars are invited to attend in person or via Teams.
- Attendance at investment committee meetings, organized to review investment approvals. Scholars are invited to attend in person or via Teams.
- Participation in one or more property site visits, depending on logistics of travel (ABR would pay for all student travel).
- Mentoring by ABR professionals and Wharton MBA students participating in the firm’s in-semester internship for veterans. Depending on the student’s availability and comfort with Covid protocols (we do not require a mask) students are invited to “shadow” one or more ABR associates once during the semester.
Any college or university is welcome to recommend a student to the program. Student participation typically lasts a full semester. The only requirement of the students is to actively participate in the program if selected.
